EDNX joins Viatel Technology Group to expand capabilities across the UK and Ireland

3 min read

We're excited to share some big news: EDNX has been acquired by Viatel Technology Group, the Irish-headquartered specialist in connectivity, cybersecurity, cloud, and managed services.

Since we were founded in Shropshire in 2017, we've built EDNX around one simple aim: designing and supporting networks that our customers can rely on, no matter how demanding or regulated their environment. As a Cisco Premier Partner, our team is trusted for our deep expertise in SD-WAN, SD-Access, wireless infrastructure, secure IoT, and campus networks – supporting organisations across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, and manufacturing, where network performance and security aren't optional extras.

Joining Viatel is the natural next step in our story.

What this means for our customers

Here’s why the acquisition is good news for you, our customers, and not just a change of ownership:

  • The EDNX expertise and standards you know. You'll continue to benefit from the specialist technical expertise and customer-focused approach EDNX has built its reputation on – tailored, tech-agnostic solutions rather than tick-box packages.

  • A much wider portfolio behind us. Viatel's connectivity, cybersecurity, cloud, and managed services run to ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS standards. So, if you've ever needed a service that sat just outside our specialism, there's now a realistic route to get it from a partner we know and trust.

  • More reach if you operate across Ireland and the UK. Multi-site organisations that need consistent network design and support on both sides of the Irish Sea now have that in one centralised, high-quality relationship.

  • A stronger case for network investment. As organisations lean further into AI and move larger volumes of data between sites, devices, and cloud platforms, network performance, visibility, and resilience matter more than ever. That's exactly the conversation our network design and assessment work is built for – now backed by a larger group's resources.

Why EDNX and Viatel fit together

For EDNX CEO David Ratcliffe, the acquisition brings together two businesses with complementary expertise and a shared approach to customer relationships:

“Joining Viatel gives our customers access to broader capabilities while preserving the technical excellence and customer focus that have defined EDNX. We see strong alignment in our cultures, ambitions and long-term commitment to customer success.”

And from Paul Rellis, chief executive of Viatel's perspective: "EDNX brings specialist enterprise networking expertise and a strong record in demanding environments. Its capabilities complement our existing connectivity, cybersecurity and managed services portfolio, giving customers access to a broader set of skills through one group."

What happens next

It's business as usual for our customers – the same team and superior technical expertise, now backed by a larger group with a broader range of services. If you have any questions about what this means for your organisation, please get in touch with your usual EDNX contact.
